Llama Got My shoe is a project that began several years ago at St. Bartholomew's Church. Every year, as part of St. Bart's' Summer Festival of Music, the choir sang Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, which is Psalm 23 sung in Hebrew. My brother, Thatcher Pitkoff, sang the boy chorister's solo for several years in a row. The choir interrupts the lulling, sweet solo with the words "Lamag rag'shu goyim" (Why do the nations rage). Sung quickly, Thatcher and I heard these words as "Llama got my shoe, indeed." It became the running joke in the choir, and every year, before the service, I present the choir with a new installation of Llama Got My Shoe.
